Beginner

  • Gain a foundational understanding of the Indian dance forms.

  • Learn basic Adavus (footwork) sequences.

  • Familiarize Hastha Mudras (hand gestures) in coordination with Adavus and head/eye movements.

  • Introduce Shlokas in a simple, student-friendly way (e.g., translation or explanation of the significance).

  • Introduce the importance of music, rhythm, and tempo in Bharatanatyam.

  • Participate in foundational exercises to improve posture, flexibility, and coordination.

Intermediate

  • Master the complete repertoire of Adavus (footwork) and Hastha Mudras (hand gestures).

  • Learn to interpret and perform simplified Krithis (compositions) and Kavithuams (devotional poems).

  • Gain experience in performing short dance pieces.

  • Continue foundational exercises to enhance strength, flexibility, and stamina.

Advanced

  • Achieve near-flawless execution of Bharatanatyam techniques, including Adavus, Mudras, Nritta (pure dance), Nritya (expressive dance), and Natya (dramatic enactment).

  • Develop the artistic maturity and stamina to participate in competitive dance programs.

  • Refine their repertoire and technique in preparation for a solo Arangetram performance (debut recital).

Class Schedule

  • 2 classes/week for classical (recommended) 

  • 1 class/week for semi-classical

  • Duration 60mins each lesson

  • Make up for missed lessons

  • Sessions run between Aug to Jun

  • Breaks in July and December

Dance Forms

  • Classical for age 5+

  • Semi-classical for adults
